How we work : |
|
Our goal in creating Virgo Inc. was to improve upon the current methods that are being implemented by other Calling Services. When we asked actors what qualities could be improved with their current services, there were a couple things that most actors would like to see changed.
The first problem was that many actors' services were charging them a monthly fee, regardless of how many jobs that they had actually worked. Many times, fees that would end up being more than half the income of working one job. At Virgo Inc. you only pay for the jobs that you are booked on, never more. If you are booked on 1 single job, you will only pay $10 for that month. If you work 5 jobs - you will still only pay $50. Our goal is to find work for actors for a fair fee - and we only want to be paid for a service that you find valuable.
The second problem that we found was that many services require that your status with them remains "always available" unless you call them and take yourself off of their list. We want to give actors the flexibility to keep their schedules as open as possible while they are registered with our service. You control the jobs that you are considered for. You make yourself available only on the days that you want to work. You can change your availability at any time of any day through the internet. If you make yourself available, you will be considered for work by all of our clients for the day(s) that you specify. Your schedule is now in your hands.
The last concept that we will be introducing, in order to ensure accountability and quality, is that you will be charged once you are "booked" on a job. We will always tell you - "you are booked" - these are the final words that are said before we charge your account. If you do not want to be charged for a job do not accept this last statement. The service that we provide ends when your name is on the Call Sheet for a given job. We connect you with clients that are looking for the types of people that we provide. This fee is non-refundable (excluding circumstances negotiated with Virgo staff).
We do understand that there are situations in which you no longer can attend a job that you have committed to (recalls, car accidents, emergencies etc.), but your $10 booking fee will cover the time and energy that it takes to replace you if this happens. It is imperative to know however, that cancellations are "a big deal" and that it reflects poorly on you, as well as the service that represents you (Virgo Inc.). If you no-call no-show on any project that you are booked on, you will be charged $40 and you may also forfeit your membership with our service. In an emergency, please do not cancel on any job before you reach a staff member at Virgo Inc. or the Emergency Contact (provided on every Info Line) for that day. We take this very seriously and only want people to register that hold this kind of integrity, consideration and understanding.
As a last note, we would like to remind you that we are not a Casting Company or a Payroll Service. These are the entities that pay you for the work you do on set. We never touch your checks or have any hand on how quickly that you receive them. We are a Calling Service that specializes in keeping a talent base of high quality, reliable actors. Our service to you is keeping you in that unique list to be considered by clients that would like those qualities in the people that they put on their sets. We pass this on to you for a small fee while allowing you the benefits aforementioned as well as the higher paying jobs. We recommend that you always keep your vouchers and any paperwork that you receive on set, in the event of having any problems receiving your checks. After you are working on set we are not longer legally involved in the remainder of the Casting Process. We will however, attempt to help you get in contact with the parties that are responsible for you receiving your payment and let you know any pertinent information that we have for any given job. Our mission is to strive to keep you as satisfied with our service as possible, without overstepping our responsibilities as a Calling Service.
If you have any questions concerning how the billing side of Virgo Inc. operates, we would be more than happy to answer them. We can elaborate in more detail any of the above processes as well as illustrate any hypothetical situations that you find to be extenuating circumstances. Please, we beg you, do not register unless you have a clear understanding of how we bill our talent.
Sincerely,
The Virgo Team |
